Buying your shoes.
When buying your shoes, you should look for four important characteristics in the right shoe for you:
Stability
The shoes should support your particular needs. Whether you overpronate (roll in), supinate (roll out), or are neutral, you need to get the right style of shoe to support your specific gait. If you don’t know how you walk or run, we can help.
Fit
The shoe must fit correctly. Try on several different styles and brands to make sure you get the right fit. The shoe should not slip or rub in the heel, be too tight in length or width in the toe box, or be too tight across the laces. If any of this is happening in the shoes, they will NOT break in. Shoes should fit right when you put them on. Also, be sure if you are a runner, to run in the shoes, just walking in them a little will not tell you the whole story of the fit. We also recommend you wear the shoes around the house for 30-45 minutes or so, just to make sure the fit is right.
Shock Absorption
All shoes will have comparable shock absorption, although you might not feel it right away by just standing on them. A shoe’s shock absorption will last about 500 miles, then it will only absorb about half what it used to. The golden rule for how long a shoe lasts is about 500 miles, then it is time to replace them.
Stride
The shoe should match your stride. A poor fitting shoe will guide your foot in a way that does not promote your natural stride. Signs of this are: forefoot slapping, or an unnatural feel to your running or walking motion.
Our staff is ready to help you find the right shoe for you. To ensure this, we have a 30 day return/exchange policy – even if the shoes are worn (please call the stores for details on our return policy).
