Frequently Asked Questions
How do you figure out which shoe is best for me?
In simple terms, we watch you walk. From watching your feet when you walk, we can get a really good idea of the mechanics of your foot, how much you do or don’t pronate, the width of your foot, etc. With that information, and any information on previous injuries, or other factors, we can narrow it down to a handful of shoes we think will work with your foot type, which you would then try and see how they feel. Depending on how those first few models work, we adjust and go from there.
How long does that take?
The gait analysis only takes a minute or two. The trying on of the shoes varies, but most people are done within half and hour. But we’ll take as long as you need to try on as many shoes, insoles, socks, or combination of those as you need.
Does that cost any extra?
Nope. Totally free. If you are just curious, stop by and have us watch you walk if you want, whether or not you are buying shoes.
My feet hurt, do you have anything that can help that?
Probably. Just getting a shoe with the right fit and the right kind of support will work wonders for a lot of common foot injuries. Beyond that, we have a variety of insoles, pads, and wraps that will compliment the benefits of the shoe.
I’m a walker, do you have walking shoes, too, or just running shoes?
Even though they have “running” in the name, running shoes can be used for lots of activities – running, walking, jogging, treadmill, elliptical. So if you are going on long, fitness-type walks, “running” shoes are what we recommend. There are “walking” shoes that we carry, but they are usually actually modified running shoe midsoles with leather uppers on them, so they don’t breathe as well as their mesh “running” counterparts. So in no way do you have to be runner to wear a “running” shoe.
